NWP Apprentice Ecologist Awards: 2022

All of the national and international Nicodemus Wilderness Project (NWP) youth volunteers who conducted an environmental cleanup or conservation project this year, as part of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative™, can be found by visiting our Global Registry of Apprentice Ecologists. These youth volunteers, including those who are at-risk and disadvantaged, have helped rebuild the environmental and social well-being of our communities. Their work has improved local living conditions for both citizens and wildlife through education, activism, and action. We thank every youth volunteer who participated this year; they have made the world a better place!!! View Apprentice Ecologist Award Winners from last year (2021).

A judging committee of NWP board members and past Apprentice Ecologist award winners have voted for the top five projects from 2022. These winning authors embodied the spirit of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative™ by demonstrating exceptional initiative, leadership, and environmental stewardship in their projects. The author of the top-ranked project essay received a $1,000 scholarship award from the Nicodemus Wilderness Project. The authors of the second and third ranked project essays received $500 and $250 scholarship awards, respectively. Since 2008, we have awarded $17,450 in scholarships to 41 Apprentice Ecologists for their college educations.
