Ecologist Essay.
The area that I completed my community service project was in my own neighborhood of Spring Valley California at the local recreation center. During my project I mostly observed desert like plants such as tumble weeds. I also observed a lot of bushes that have little yellow pollen covered spores. There were not really any interesting animals apart from black widow spiders and black beetles. During the project, me and the high school leadership group I am in successfully cleaned up all the trash around the recreation center that we could find. We helped keep it clean for the time being.
It was important for us to do the community service project because if we did not do it no one else would. The area would have just built up with more trash. It would have become unbearable for anyone to look at when they passed by and it would have had a negative effect on the environment. I think it is important to keep areas where children play clean so they will not get hurt and it would be comfortable for them. I do not think its right for people to just dump there trash in areas that could potentially be a safe haven for our communities youth. The long term benefits of this project is that it keeps our community clean and it also shows other kids that they can make a difference no matter how old they are. This project has made it possible for kids of different backgrounds to work together to keep something we all love clean.
If I wasn’t for this program I would have never thought I could make a difference in my community. It gave me the little push I needed to make a change in my life. It made me feel really good inside to know that what I did affected other people’s lives in a positive way. This could possibly inspire other kids to do something to help the place where they live stay safe and clean for them to enjoy. To potentially keep our neighborhood clean kids could even pick up their trash and throw it away. This would drastically reduce the amount of trash left lying on the ground. If every kid picked up the trash they saw there would no longer be trash everywhere.
I think this program has enriched my life by showing me that something can always be done to solve a problem. Even if you think that there is no way what you do can change the way things are. I was looking at some problems in the wrong way. I should have been optimistic about things instead of pessimistic. Now I see that it is not so hard to help make the world a better place even if you are doing it a little at a time. I never thought that one of my ideas could have been so successful and it proved to be one of the most beneficial ideas I have ever had. It is important to be actively involved in the environment because we can not bring it back once it is too broken to be fixed. We have to do something now before it is too late. The future is not far off and I personally would not want our environment to deteriorate into nothing. It’s so soothing to see the flowers bloom and the wind swaying the trees and I want to keep it looking as breathtaking as it always did.
