Hello. My name is Breanna and I am 17 years old. I participated in Catholic Heart Work Camp over the summer. I traveled 21 hours and stayed there for a week. I went with a group from our community and we joined other teenagers from different states. I was in a group of 6 teenagers and one adult supervisor. We went to a lady’s house and fixed it up for her for four days. We cleaned out the inside, painted inside and outside, repaired a window, picked up trash, cut down her weeds, and rebuilt a ramp to get into her house. From my picture, you can tell we picked up many different things from bottles and paper to toilets and shopping carts. We helped fix an elderly lady’s house because she was in a wheel chair and couldn’t do it herself. This was probably the greatest experience I have had in my life. Even though I did not plan this project on my own, I was also involved in a Teen Service class at school. Our class got to choose group projects that we wanted to do. We picked up trash for two days on Highway N that is located in front of our school. We walked an average of two miles a day covering both sides of the highway that was covered with garbage. We also racked leaves and fixed a garden at a local park. We participated in Chain Reaction Day for two days cleaning yards and outside of houses. I helped plan the project of the cleanup of Highway N. I feel all of these projects were good experiences and helped clean up our environment tremendously.
