Despite the ruthless effects of Indiscriminate exploitation of our mother earth, people seem to be keeping their eyes shut without caring of what they are leaving to future generations. A tree was ruthlessly uprooted in front of my eyes and people were enjoying the fun. These are well educated and aware people belonging to rich and respected families who are enjoying their Sunday evening by looking at the tree being fallen. This devastating picture shows a road blocked by a fallen tree which stood it's ground for more than 50 years. It gave shade, food shelter etc. to every animal living or dead, wild or human. These are the heights if we are still not doing anything about it.

Rich people in most cases are not concerned with protecting the environment because they think they have everything they need and the mentality that the poor should be concerned rather than them persist in them. They know that even if the resources are depleted and become less they will still be able to purchase the remaining even at high cost so they give their backs to such measures that's why in your case they don't realise the role the tree plays.

Rich people think that they can do everything with the power of money but for once they do not think that all living things are dependent on each other for survival. This is what we call the food web. If one thing get extincts the whole chain will be affected.
