Our environmental club of girls decided that it would be great to help clean up a big city like Washington D.C. We only live an hour away and we know how much trash collects in cities. We picked a weekend where there was a 5K run and we decided to clean up after it was over. You would not believe how much trash was there. Water bottles, papers, banana peels EVERYWHERE. We all split up and went everywhere all over the park. When we filled one trash bag we put it in the van and then we would collect more. So many people came up to us and told us what a great thing we were doing cleaning up DC and recycling. That was the most rewarding part of the whole experience: Knowing we were doing some good for the environment.
