The precious treasures Alaska holds cannot be described with mere words. One must travel there to see the gems that lay hidden within this landscape of gigantic proportions. Ten people from across the country were thrown together to built a trail in the Alaskan tundra through the Student Conservation Association. Ten strangers became a family during the longest month of their lives. The hardships that we faced, the weather conditions we endured, the emotions we felt only served to strengthen the bond between each other and the land around us. Alaska has seen firsthand the destruction humanity inflicts upon the environment and sadly will be one of the first places to be lost if something is not done to protect it. Hopefully, our endless toils will serve a purpose; our trail will show people the beauty of this landscape. Perhaps through the knowledge of that beauty, more people will come to realize that it must either be protected or lost from world. Maybe people will see the consequences of their actions and strive to protect other places that are vital to his world. Perhaps they will see truth.
