Wesley Chapel High School was in need of a memory garden to commemorate the very large number of students that have passed in recent years. I organized and planned, with the help of local businesses donating everything, the creation of a garden with trees, bushes and flowers at the front of my school. All of the plants are native Florida friendly plants that thrive in our climate. This project has influence the school, community and family members of those past, many have commented upon the project, gratifying it's beauty. The project started as bear plain with a few crate myrtle trees, the sod was removed with heavy labor and few people, and the plants were transported from 6 local nurseries, and the peat moss and mulch were donated by the school. about 30 students from the high school, involved in student government and various other groups, graciously participated in the planting, happy to be actively involved with their community. The project was very time consuming, but very well worth in the end, to have a beautiful big memory garden in the center of the school.
