Nicodemus Wilderness Project -- Global Registry of Apprentice Ecologists

It was the spring of 2014, during pre-final year of my engineering, our college organized an project competition. In this project competition, since i said that it was a engineering college, that's why many students of different disciplines of my college were participated in this project competition, they made several things like automated robotic vehicles, some software application and much more things like this. However me and my team, which represented our engineering department, decided to do that project or in other words we decided to make that project that is not only beneficial to our environment, however it must raise some awareness amongst youth, teachers and farmers. That's why we decided to choose a project which would help others to understand why chemical fertilizers and pesticides were harmful to soil and crops. That's why we finalized our project named 'Organophytonutriment'. In which we carried out pot studies, for plant species named Spinacea oleracea, in which all the small plantlets were sown in the medium sized pot which could accomodate soil of around 200 - 300 grams. Then at regular basis we maintained them and took proper care of them, then in these respective pots we added chemical fertilizers, effluents which were obtained from industries to the respective pots individually, then in other individual pots we further added soil which were obtained from vermicomposting, and at last in other pot, we added biofertilizers. Basically, the aim of this project is to aware common people, about the side-effects of using chemical fertilizers, and to encourage them to start using biofertilizers. After, one month of regular maintainance, we found that pots in which biofertilizers and soil of vermicomposting were added , showed maximum plant growth, when compared to that of the pots in which chemical fertilizers were added. In this way we tried to educate people about side-effects of using chemical fertilizers, and we also encouraged them to use biofertilizers instead of this. And finally we were awarded with first prize in this project competition. In this way me and my team encouraged others to use biofertilizers which imposes zero side effects to our environment, when compared to that of chemical fertilizers which imposes serious environmental hazards.
