At the beginning of the school year, I approached my science teacher with a proposal for a school organization. I recruited friends to join our cause, and from then on The Clean Air Club came into existence. We host litter cleanups and tree restorations once a month, and students enjoy being able to do something with their hands to make a real, noticeable difference in their community. With over 30 members and many events throughout the year, serving as President is a daunting task. It is my job to organize events and troubleshoot when others look to me for answers. We often spend many hours planning outings, yet the rewards are much greater than the input, as we are able to lead the school’s environmental conscience. I chose this path, as the project will not be unique, and will hopefully continue for many generations of students to come. As founder of this project, this will be my legacy, a chance to give back to a school which has given me so much.
