The summer of 2012 I was looking for a job as many teenagers do. In my community there are not a lot of opportunities for employment. It came to me that I might try to create my own employment and utilize my passion for the environment in that endeavor. Our city had discontinued their recycling program and I thought that would be a perfect fit for me. I began advertising in my area offering my services for residential recycling. My first customers were elderly women and I was so impressed that they of all people were so interested in recycling. I charged a nominal pick up fee and began to gather more customers. It has been a rewarding "job" even though it does not pay much more than my gas to get to the recycling center, but as Theodore Roosevelt said, "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing."
