This project was a home garden which I and my family worked on. The goal of this garden was to grow some of our own fruits and vegetables thereby reducing our dependence on purchasing food from the local supermarket. The fruits and vegetables in these supermarkets have to be shipped in and are usually not locally grown which doesn't encourage a sustainable food source. We have been doing this for the past few years; this past year, we had multiple families working on this project with us and we all had a great time learning how to grow our own food and teaching others how to do it as well. One of the greatest excitements we've had is that we produced so much that we could give some of it away. It was also an educational experience as we had to learn proper gardening skills such as testing soil pH, constructing raised beds, and working proper garden maintenance tasks such as weeding and watering.
