The green club is an entrepreneurial idea developed from Abraham T. Wate who was an Apprentice Ecologist at The Nicodemus Wilderness projects during his college Environmental Protection and Development activities at the University of Haramaya, Ethiopia. Later through many individuals and organizations support it started its formal operation as an NGO with license granted from the Ministry of Justice Charities and Societies Agency in Ethiopia to work in Greening and Playground construction, Environmental Consultancy, Resource Management and Research, Innovation and Development works; to elevate students and school communities (including underprivileged and at-risk youth) into changing roles by engaging them in environmental stewardship projects, while providing schools, health centers and offices with suitable gardens and playgrounds, for refreshment and sports activities. Indeed, duet to financial limitations and start-up arrangements with less inputs,The Green Club is currently working as a Green Representative for ice Addis at the EiABC (Ethiopian institute of Architecture and Building Construction) where there are networks with CCL(Center for Creative leadership), dot(digital opportunity trust) and giz.

Drawing attention to slash funds and long-term grants, currently we are being involved to host our environmental business models and ideas at ice-addis (Ethiopia). Perhaps, we are helping engage the youth and community members to be involved in our works in facilitating and supporting such initiatives to provide inputs for our work.

Our long term plan in the areas of Greening and playground construction aims to reach the following key targets: 1. Ecological Literacy: To develop, in each student, a comprehensive understanding of the basic patterns and processes by which nature sustains life and how these core ecological concepts relate to sustainable human communities. 2. Learning It by Living It: Model as an organization, how core ecological concepts can be applied to create sustainable human communities. 3. Environmental Ethic: To develop an environmental ethic in all members of the school community. 4. Contributing to Society: To fulfill the schools’ commitment to be a government institution with a public purpose through research, publications and outreach in the areas of outdoor and environmental education, environmental monitoring, and sustainability.

Even though our projects have sustainable business plans for the future to become independent from donations, our current organizational structure does not include additional income generating mechanisms to support its project, the Green Club greening and playground construction grant will be an essential and primary part to start one of The Green Club’s programs in greening schools project which will also permit the organization to both extend its efforts in the field of creating awareness and training as well as School Garden construction work.

yet, The Green Club would like to encourage many apprentice ecologists and entrepreneurs to share their ideas in opportunities like the NWP is providing for everyone. Students and organizations and different stakeholders to be part of the conservation process for our planet.
