As an aspiring herpetologist, I have always been intrigued by the world around me. I have yearned to learn all I can, educate myself and others, and play a role in a grand adventure that would impact my world. This summer, that wish came true.
I was given the opportunity to travel across the world and spend two months in various countries of Southern Africa.
While there, we stayed in tents, "washed" in buckets, and joined the villagers in their daily tasks. We showed love to over 200 AIDS orphans, and are still now seeking to provide them with sponsors.
Africa is home to some of the most diverse and stunning countries. We saw the breathtaking beauty of Victoria Falls, in Zambia, and the gorgeous valleys in South Africa. Right on the outskirts, of such beauty, however, lies a people group living in agony. We visited many informal settlements, commonly referred to as "squatter camps", and aided the people in cooking and cleaning. Our group daily went around the camps and collected trash and garbage.
The African's home was once a beautiful place, and our team did our best to return it to its former glory. It was truly a summer I will never forget.
