My passion is to harmoniously combine nature and the modern world. You probably have a similar passion; I'm assuming because you are reading The Wilderness Project. And we may share the same confusion as to why others decide to degrade and disrespect the beauty of mother earth. I want to share some advice with you how to awaken people to the dire environmental needs of our time.

Take a moment to think about a person who is disrespecting the environment. I see it in so many areas, glass bottles being broken on the streets, irresponsible dumping of chemicals, over use of disposable items, and there are many more instances that could be named. To prevent further poor action, we have to harness our sadness from viewing the situation into an energy that can create solutions.

Some people truly do not know of their actions effects on the ecosystem. Others outright choose to ignore it because it will be too much of a hassle around their personal interests. First, give time to ensure the environmental effects of the action are known to perpetrator. This will grab their attention, because you will find people often misunderstand consequences of their actions. Then, to bring about change we must introduce solutions that are not going to impede on the passions of others. Environmentalists do not want to hear that they should get a new chemical that 'keeps all the bugs away' just as a car mechanic will not like to hear 'you should sell your car and get a bike'. However, we could suggest the environmentalist buys a sticky bug trap or recommend that the car mechanic to use a local oil/chemical dumping location.

The environmental devastation is rooted in the neighborhoods and cities. There is a need to call for action among those who are creating the issues that environmentalists are cleaning up. I'll share the secret to preserving wildlife. Individual action. We all must start by looking around the neighborhood we are in and personally addressing these local problems.

The picture above is of me preaching to a small crowd before a neighborhood cleanup. People there had passions for many things; the goal was to learn their passions and share ours. We addressed attainable actions among students, such as recycling, stopping the littering, and the implications of acting for our future generations.

Environmental issues threaten to impact every aspect of life on earth. Stand with your chest tall, facts behind you and change will undoubtedly come about.
