Since I am Vice President of Community Service for the University of Louisville chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and hold the same office for my fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega I reached out to bring members of both organizations together to participate jointly in multiple community service events. The main project I initiated is taking place at Floyd’s Fork, working with the Floyds Fork Environmental Association there in the establishment of a bluebird trail within the Louisville nature conservancy. Many weekends instead of sleeping in, we would be up early creating a walking path and installing bluebird houses along it. Bluebirds have begun to return to the area and successful nesting has already occurred in the houses we installed. I was greatly honored when I received the Floyds Fork & Governor Beshear's Environmental Quality Commission 2015 Leadership Award for my initiative in creating and organizing the project as well as my active involvement and hours of volunteer work. Our work there is ongoing.
