I chose to clean a strip of wetland on the edge of the polluted Potomac River. I chose to pick up trash at the site because there are few wetlands left on the Potomac River in the metropolis of the city of Washington D.C. I also chose this site because it is next to a bicycle path that I frequently ride on and always notice the poor condition of the wetland.

It is important to keep this site clean because it is home to ducks, osprey, migrating birds, and many small mammals that have had to settle their because of habitat loss. The majority of the trash that I cleaned was plastic bottles. I filled seven bags full of soda bottles, plastic containers, and motor oil containers.
