From the dawn of our modern world, the ecosystem has begun to adapt to human interference. Due to the profound impact the human race has implicated upon the world that which we live in, ultimately environmental activists have begun bringing awareness to this ever-pressing subject. For, as the world unveils the importance of supporting the ecosystem, the environment will become a lush asset in not only our health and worldly beauty, but also in the support and harvesting of natural resources.
As ecologists have begun to discover and now prove, the world today is experiencing what is known as the “green house effect.” This concept, brought aware mostly by Ronald Reagan, includes that the natural ozone layer of the earth’s atmosphere has begun to deteriorate with the large omissions of carbon gases, which come from large coal and iron factories and especially nuclear plants. Entire habitats have become largely affected by global warming and species such as the arctic polar bear are edging closer to extinction due to our failure to act upon it.
As citizens of our world today, it is our responsibility to protect the environment. Imagine a world without the lush beauty of rainforests, jungles, forests, and other natural wonders. It is our duty to do whatever is necessary to support their endurance and by doing so, natural resources such as water and the very air we breathe will be preserved and supported for many generations to come. In addition, endangered species like the polar bear will be re-supported. There are endless simple ways to help slow global warming, including picking up trash and litter, exchanging your gas powered vehicle to an energy-efficient hybrid, recycling, disposing of batteries properly, and reducing the amount of aerosol used in your common day chores such as using hairspray. By adapting to these small changes and reaching out with these simple acts of concern for the environment, the state of emergency we are currently in will become a state of security.
In my own personal experience with helping the environment, I have learned the truth behind the quote, “One person can make a difference.” I participated in and led a church youth group trash pick up recently where we caravanned to five local parks and disposed of litter in both the parking lot and the park. As we did this, our adult ministers took before and after pictures of each park and at the end, we were shown a pictorial PowerPoint where all who participated noticed a huge difference in the beauty that which we brought back to them. Not only did we restore their natural aesthetics, but also we helped prevent innocent animals from consuming the trash that we disposed of. Therefore, I believe our deed is something worth admiring and learning from.
Consequently, if we fail to act upon the crisis of global warming and disregard the potential beauty our planet has if we stop littering, then the world that which we live in today will only continue on this path of eventual extinction. Although, if we do engage in protecting the environment, species thought to be close to death will be restored with life and population as rainforests and a once lushly green earth will be brought back from the depths of time. For, even one person can make a difference, and I am proud to be proof of that true statement.
