Imagine a world enveloped in trash. Where through the enormous amount of garbage that is literally everywhere people fear. They fear because they know that we humans need sanitary conditions otherwise diseases will spread like wild fire. Creating chaos and enveloping the world in total despair. Even though that truly is to a bit of an extreme it one day might be the fate of the earth and its inhabitants. That “fate” is inevitable, unless, we do something about it.
Each and every one of us owes it to not only ourselves but to the earth, our community and even our family. For picking up some trash here is not just us doing another mindless thing. Volunteering to pick up trash is about more than just that. It’s a way to reflect that we love this place, that we care for this place, and that we are willing to do something for the better cause for this place, which we happen to call home, Earth.
Today I noticed something. Something that is what I call just plain disgusting. That the two things that probably take more lives than any other object on Earth do more than just harm people. They serve a dual purpose to also kill our environment. The two culprits, cigarettes and beer can tops. Due to the fact that over half of the items I picked up turned out to be those two items.
We all should do our share. That’s why I put my hours to clean that piece of land near the beach. It was because I cared enough to. Because the Earth is not going to last forever the way we treat it. But if we volunteer and take care of it the Earth will survive. That’s why we all should take care of it and not litter and pick up after those who do litter unless you want home to turn into a place of pure chaos. Volunteering not only helped the Earth but helped to cleanse me. I’m from Naples, Florida and I made a difference on my vacation in Hawaii. So for all who read this remember you owe it to you, your family, your community, your Earth to do what is right and volunteer to pick up litter.
