Involving children in water quality monitoring


The program aims to provide students, the feature leaders of country opportunity to understand, improve and sustain their local drinking water sources. The program empowers young people to investigate the drinking water quality in their neighborhoods and use their findings to implement solutions.
The programs involves students from Std VIII onwards in developing skills related to analyzing water quality, interpreting the results, conducting social survey and communicating with the society and coordinating with the civic authorities, and others to implement remedial measures. Thus, the program links the student community throughout India in a network engaged in conducting studies to maintain vigilance of the drinking water quality.


To understand the prevalent water quality in Pondicherry the project has taken up the task of seasonally assessing the drinking water quality, to make people aware, and implement the possible remedial measure. Various groups of students analyze the drinking and surface water quality, investigate the conditions of local environment and investigate communities from Pondicherry and in Cuddalore Town to join forces to monitor quality of water in their respective areas.
