I planted two Aspen trees on the Bell Canyon Trail in Sandy, Utah. The first tree I planted at the beginning of the trail. I planted it behind the trail sign so passersby could see it when they read the trail rules. I felt it was a good place to get sun and show people how beautiful the native trees are. It was also a good place because as people walked by they had questions about it. I was approached by multiple people inquiring as to why I was planting a tree. It felt good to know that I was helping the environment in so many ways by planting on single tree. I planted this tree right at the beginning of spring so it has all summer and fall to mature, in order to be ready for winter.
I planted the second tree higher up on the trail. This time as I passed people many of them noticed my shovel and little tree. Again they asked if I was planting a tree. As of course I was. My feeling is that people who see others doing good makes them want to do good as well. This tree was planted in a small clearing. In time it will grow to provide shade, beauty, and oxygen to the world.
