Every year my Key Club has a district project at the end of the year. This year we happened to clean up the Westcare facility, which is a place where battered and abused women and children seek out help. The backyard/play area of Westcare was overrun by thorny plants, weeds, garbage, and gravel. This was supposed to be a place where children could play and women can seek refuge. The Key Clubs in our district all contributed to help and in several hours we had the area all cleaned up and ready to be covered with grass and playthings for the little children. It took a lot of work leveling out the field, moving rocks and other debris out of the way, and making it suitable for the facility. Not only were we able to clean-up, but it also benefited an organization that needed it.
