I was raised to admire and appreciate nature, I've learned a lot from the environment. I was oblivious to how much harm humans have inflicted on our planet until I took AP Environmental Science, a class that should be a requirement for everyone, in my opinion. I learned about air pollution, toxic runoff, our dependence on nonrenewable energy, and unethical forestry. I saw so many problems with the world, but I needed to more than just complain. I decided to start a club to create an interest in the environment for students. The club I started is called Conservation Club and we focus on producing content to educate others about their carbon footprint and environmental impact and what they can do to change that. We also participate in as many environmental volunteer opportunities as we can. The project that is pictured is the Nature Play Area Project, started by the district science coordinator. We come together on weekends to construct local playgrounds for elementary schools made out of natural and recycled materials. These nature play areas encourage students to be inspired by nature.

Though I didn't start this project, I've gathered club members to help participate in this project, as well as other events like litter cleanup, composting, native plant planning, etc.
