Over the summer, I worked for 8 weeks at the NOAA Office of Science and Technology as a Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Intern. Along with a fellow intern, I conducted an independent research project about ground litter at bus stops in Montgomery County. We collected, counted, and sorted litter at 40 bus stops in Bethesda, MD, and I created poster, powerpoint presentation, and paper about the project. The goal was to determine the effectiveness of trash cans at bus stops and discuss measures for reducing litter in Montgomery County.
