Hi, I am Shamsul Alam Roky from Bangladesh. Currently studying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in Sylhet Agricultural University.

From the very first year , we involved with ''Pradhikar", a local organization which works about nature conservation and animal rights in our area. We work as a team with the help of overall 50 volunteers from our campus and also outside. We rescue animals, treat them, release them to their habitat, arrange seminar and rally to raise awareness about wildlife. In every event we have a story to tell the world. Now this is our story about ''Save the Frogs''.

Frog is the most common amphibians in the world including my country Bangladesh. But the importance of frog is unknown to many peoples around the world. As a developing country like Bangladesh, this things gone horrible. Maximum peoples are not aware about this. They kill frog without any reason in both villages and towns. Due to rapid urbanization, frogs are seen rare in the city like Sylhet. This is now a serious issue of concern. So, that's why we went to the village school named 'Mirpur F N High School' in Habiganj, about 60 kms away from Sylhet city to observe the real situation there. We want to develop a positive understanding about frogs and make the students aware about this things and we successfully did it.
This event was held on 7th May, 2018 in Habiganj. There were several events took all day long. With the help of 30 enthusiastic volunteers and teachers, we managed the whole program successfully. At first, we started our journey from Sylhet Agricultural University at 7 AM and reached there at 9 AM. Then we assembled the students in a hall room and start our whole day program with a nice presentation about the importance of frogs. This is a open discussion event, so, the students also took part easily by questioning amazing questions and our experts gave their best to remove their confusion. After that, a quiz and art competition was held among the students and the best 3 students from each category got their award from the hand of teachers. We also distributed about 250 caps to the students. The students were amazed and inspired to join with us in near future. They loves animal and we are able to convince them not to harm any frogs since they are important to maintain the ecosystem of our environment. We ended our program with a nice rally from the school to the main town with all students. We also provide them snacks and caps for their smooth participation.

This is a important topic for environment and also us. Frogs helps us in many ways. They eat larvae of mosquito, maintain the ecosystem, helps in controlling pest in the agricultural field, reduce the cost of pesticides and many more. Recently some species are used in the field of medicine. So we need them for the sake of us, our society and our world. That's why we conduct this program in the villages to educate the students and make them aware so that they can spread the news to many more and be a part of conservation.

Since we work for community, for conservation of environment. Everything we do, we do for our world. This project will helps us to spread and gain knowledge, learn new skill about conservation and meet new peoples to share our experience about conservation. This obviously help me to enrich my profile as a conservationist.

Thank you all for being patience and we are looking for your support to do more work for the nature and animal.
