For this project my team and i worked on getting the public interacted with the science going on in the garden. At Fairchild Botanical Gardens i am a part of an internship with the educational department. My team and I created a public program where we are on site at the garden working hand in hand with the Million Orchid Project. The Million Orchid project is a project that works with about six diffrent native and endangered orchid species in south florida. Our goal is to successfully put one million orchids around Miami florida to help prevent the species from going extinct. In my internship we are helping the million orchid project by interacting the public with it. We have stations where we inform the public on what the million orchid project is, then they can deflask the orchids and transplant them into one of there final stages before they go on trees. I belive that this extra help is essential to meeting the goal of successfully getting one million orchids out and about in Miami florida.
