Nicodemus Wilderness Project -- Global Registry of Apprentice Ecologists

My project is about elevating peopleâ€™s awareness towards the environment. I believe you can change a personâ€™s awareness with art. You can effect people through the heart and sometimes this is the most effective way to remind them that the planet needs help.

For my project I wanted to make an animation about the environment that could be shared through social media. I am an artist and animation is my way of communicating my passions and beliefs.

My animation begins with the world polluted by man. An owl is flying through a desolate, industrialized landscape and quickly we see that we are seeing things from the owls point of view. The owl flies up into his home environment with no other owls in sight. He is alone. We wonder if he is the last owl on the planet. He seems to panic. Searching for another.

I donâ€™t give a solution for changing the world in my animation but want the viewer to ponder the problem themselves. I give hope in the end as the owl watches over a greening landscape. Another owl flies through the scene and we feel there will be a better future.

I used music that would make people feel something, to make it register in their hearts that industrialization and pollution are serious matters.

I think if people are reminded and effected emotionally there is a possibility they will find a passion to do something and thats how change happens in the world.
