Nicodemus Wilderness Project -- Global Registry of Apprentice Ecologists

My project involved building trellises for hops plants for Saint Johns Catholic Prep. I built and set-up the trellises on Saint Johns property. My main focus for the trellises was to educate the Environmental Stewardship class at Saint John's Catholic Prep on how to take responsibility for producing healthy plants. I also planned to and successfully educated the general public on how hops trellises are built by creating an informative Facebook page. My project has many sources of sustainability such as the hops plants will keep growing after I dedicate the project to Saint John's Catholic Prep. These plants will be educational not just to the one class, but future classes along with the whole school. Many of the science classes such as Biology, Physics and AP Environmental Science will benefit from my project. The hops plants will continue to grow after being harvested, which will also make my project sustainable. The construction of my hops trellises will also impact the amount of run off water that occurs on the property.
