My name is Lizette. I was raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and came to Dallas, Texas back in 2008. Over in Mexico I was raised in the city pollution was still taking over, we could see trash all over the place. We saw people picking up the trash and try to clean the city.
The environment has change over the time, we are trying to make this earth better in every aspect, but pollutions and animal extinctions have been present as well. Human taking over the animals habits increases everyday. Since I was little I have notice how we destroy this beautiful environment. Trash on the ocean, parks and all over the streets. I then realize the difference I wanted to make in this world, getting to High School has not only taught me many lessons and mature me in many ways but has given me the privilege participate with my club Interact which we help the community around us, we have participated in food banks, helping the needed kids, and of course making a difference in the environment.
Last year on November, 2015 we went to a Dallas Forth Worth area and planted around 40 trees in areas where new oxygen was needed the most. For this event, a whole neighborhood gathered where we got the devices needed. We split into small groups of 4 or 5 and we started digging until the size of the whole was good enough for the tree to grow healthy. This has been by far one of the greatest projects I have done with my club, its a great feeling knowing I assisted my community. As the time passes we see the touring down of trees to expand the urban area of the cities, I myself love the environment and I am glad to know that there is still people out there trying to make a difference to set an example to the next generation so that we can make this world different. Wild fires have also taken place in the descruction of trees,
The project I helped on not only meant a lot to me because good feeling of helping but also its such a great feeling knowing we are helping animals get a new habitat and find a place to be safe on. Creating new life by planting a tree that could last for million of year its the reward at the end of participating.
