Clean environment is very important. But unfortunately many people pollute it. But luckily there are some people that care about our planet. My mother and I went to the local park and the wildlife area behind it. This is located in Parma Ohio. It is near John Muir Middle School. It is behind the corner of West 24th, and Torrington Avenue. There was so much litter. It was on the intersection, so maybe some people just threw out garbage out of their car windows. This park area looked almost like a dump. The weather was warm and there were even some people in the park. There were no animals that we saw. There were some grass and trees in this area. We picked up various litter: many pop cans, trash bags, fast food bags, papers, bottles, cigarette box, milk carton, and candy wrappers. We gathered two big bags. We didn't bring more because we didn't think that there would be so much litter. We were very surprised.

On the way home, we felt very good about what we did. I feel that our little efforts were very significant to the environment. Picking up this litter would even help the animals because they might step into the aluminum can and hurt their foot. It is important to care for these areas because it not only makes the area look nice but help the environment by allowing plants and grass to grow in these areas.

We can reduce the litter problem by each of us doing our part. First we should not throw out our garbage anywhere except the garbage can. This way there would be less litter. But since there is a lot of litter, the problem can be reduced by picking it up whenever we see it and by doing these kinds of projects. I am very glad that " Apprentice Ecologist Initiative" helps to motivate people to save the environment.

Great picture! You got a lot of trash--way more than I did! Your essay was also well-written.
