On Saturday, March 11, my Mom, brother, sister and I visited Bartlet Pond Park in Middle Island, New York. Many people come here each day to feed the ducks that are inhabiting the pond, go fishing, or play on the playground.

On the day that I was there many young children were playing on the playground and feeding the ducks that inhabit the pond. The ducks were being fed cereal, carrots, pizza, and bread. Many people will bring food with them to eat or feed the ducks. Some of these people will not throw our their food wrappers and garbage, and the wind blow this in the lake on occasion.

This park is also forested. In the forested area we found a lot of garbage. We found beer bottles, soda cans, milk cartons, and surprisingly a metal bird cage filled with garbage! None of the items that we found there should not be where they were. There shouldn't be any garbage at all.

In conclusion people should be more careful of where they put their garbage. Most of the garbage we found is recyclable, but someone didn't think of that, and instead left it lying around. It's a shame that this is being done to such a beautiful place. People need to be more careful about their actions.
