Implemented a recycling program at the pool where I work as a lifeguard during the summer. All of the recycling was separated and was taken to the appropriate places.
Using the Recycling Power Calculator at the Univ. of Florida Sustainability website, the nearly 575pounds (260kg) of glass, plastic and aluminum that was recycled by the pool where I work represented 5090kWh of energy savings over a 3 month period.
Subsequently collaborated with other community organizations to make this service available, at no cost, to other community pools that wished to participate.
We plan on implementing this project to additional locations this coming summer.
