Since I was born very premature at 26 weeks and low birth weight of less than 2 pounds, my pediatrician suggested to my parents that they teach me to swim for my lungs. I began swimming at the age of a year and a half. When I was 11, I took a scuba diving class & completed my open water test dives & became a certified scuba diver. I continued my diving studies and became certified in many diving specialties such as marine biology, habitat, underwater photography, rescue diver, wreck diver and most recently earned Master Diver status. As a member of the National Honor Society at my school, I was searching for a service project & came up with the perfect fit. I now give lectures to fellow classes at my school in connection with the Oceans for Youth Foundation of which I am a member. I believe that sharing the passion I have for protecting and appreciating marine life and it’s habitat by presenting the first hand information , video and photos of my diving experiences to my generation and younger kids will help educate them and instill the same feelings in them.
